Tamir launches community-wide disabilities survey

Following Tamir’s focus groups, held earlier this year with the aim to develop their strategic plan, Tamir is now inviting the Ottawa Jewish community to fill out their Ottawa Wide Community Disabilities Survey.

Tamir supports people living with disabilities through a broad range of therapeutic, recreational, and residential services. Tamir works in partnership with the Jewish community, Ottawa public and private agencies, the people we support and their families, to provide person-centred and family-focused care and they receive support for their Jewish programming from the Jewish Federation of Ottawa.

To realize this important mission, Tamir is conducting this survey to gain a better understanding of the needs of people with disabilities and the families who support them in both the Jewish and broader Ottawa community. The organization is looking to identify gaps in services affecting people's quality of life. In addition, Tamis is interested in learning about accessibility and inclusion from the personal experience of people with a disability and their family members.

“This is an amazing opportunity to express what matters to the community and impact the future of services for people with disabilities and their families,” stresses Tamir’s Executive Director Risa Plotnick.

The survey is intended to gather information about a variety of disabilities and needs. Tamir is reaching out to community members and organizations, both within the Jewish and general Ottawa communities that support people with disabilities. This survey should be shared with or taken by someone personally affected by a disability or who has a family member who experiences a disability. The key objective is to develop a comprehensive perspective of people in our community with disabilities, their needs and wishes for the future.

“This is an amazing opportunity to express what matters to the community and impact the future of services for people with disabilities and their families,” stresses Tamir’s Executive Director Risa Plotnick.
